Of course, a full rewire may not be required and we may be able to repair any faults or replace any faulty equipment such as installing new sockets.
We will carry out a full inspection and survey and provide a full and honest quote for carrying out the rewire or replacement and installation of any other faulty components.
We can also provide the following if required:
Minor works certificates
Many homes are equipped with an old style fuse box.
If your property is one of them we recommend that you upgrade your fuse box for a new style consumer unit that will not only provide better electrical safety for your property, family or tenants, but will also ensure your home is compliant with the current electrical regulation standards.
How will I know if I need to upgrade?
If your current electrical installation meets the current BS7671 requirements then you won’t need to upgrade. However it is very difficult to ascertain this information without professional testing equipment.
Our domestic electricians will be able to carry out a thorough inspection and provide you with the necessary certification or alternatively, we are qualified and competent in removing old style household fuse boards and installing new consumer units
Electrical Socket Installation, Replacement & Repair
Our electrical socket and switch installation and repair service covers all your home’s power sockets both inside and outside, including garages, sheds, garden lights.
Landlords – your electrical safety obligation
Landlords are also putting millions of UK private tenants at risk of serious accident or fire.
Landlords are required by law to ensure:
That the electrical installation in a rented property is safe when tenants move in and maintained in a safe condition throughout its duration. That a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) has a periodic inspection carried out on the property every five years. If your property is not an HMO, you are not legally obliged to do this. However, we recommend that a periodic inspection and test is carried out by a registered electrician on your rental properties at least every five years. That any appliance provided is safe and has at least the CE marking (which is the manufacturer’s claim that it meets all the requirements of European law). To meet these requirements a landlord will need to regularly carry out basic safety checks to ensure that the electrical installation and appliances are safe and working.
Atlas Electrical UK recommends …
That a visual inspection of the property is conducted between tenancies Making sure that your property has adequate RCD protection Using a registered electrician for any work on your property Carrying out regular safety checks on the electrical appliances provided as part of the rental agreement
OUTDOOR LIGHTING and POWER
However, outdoor lighting and power still falls under Part P of the Building Regulations law which requires that electrics are installed by a certified electrician to the latest IEE Wiring Regulations.
For example, every cable, wire, socket, appliance and light used outdoors has to be protected by an RCD (Residual Current Device). An RCD is a fast-acting safety trip switch that reduces the risk of a fatal electric shock by instantly cutting off the power should anything happen to make power leak to earth. Any external power supply should also be installed with appropriate weatherproof outdoor fittings.
Our qualified, approved, and experienced domestic electricians can supply and install outdoor lighting and power systems to the legally required standards for:
- Security Lighting
- Ponds and water features
- Garden Sheds/Workshops/Man-Caves/She-Sheds
- Waterproof sockets
Outdoor entertainment systems
- Spas, saunas and hot tubs
